You Am I announce national tour to launch new album ‘Porridge & Hotsauce’

Australian icons, superstars and all-round legends You Am I have announced a national tour to celebrate the release of Porridge & Hotsauce – their tenth album and first since 2010.

Recorded in a cramped studio deep in Bushwick, New York City, Porridge & Hotsauce is the followup to the band’s self-titled 2010 album and is set to drop into your hot little hands on Friday, November 6 wrapped in a sleeve that gives a strong hat-tip to the Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers. The band will kick off the 19-date album launch tour with a show in Geelong on Thursday, October 29 then wind their way around the country before a triumphant return to Melbourne’s 170 Russell in December. The Delta Riggs will bring their genre bending disco rock to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide to open the gigs, with supports for all other shows to be announced soon. Check out the dates below.

The record was inspired by the band’s recent retrospective shows on the “Hi Fi Daily Double” tour, but You Am I aren’t content just to indulge in nostalgia tripping. “A few years ago when we were given the opportunity to look back at some records we had done a while back,” Tim Rodgers explains. “Whilst it was a blast, havin’ a peak behind us only compelled us to leap foolishly into the future. [Porridge & Hotsauce’s lead single] ‘Good Advices’ is about throwing away the script and clinging to your imagination as the only guide. We’ve trusted our wits so far, and if it got us here, this hopped up and rarin’ to go, our wits done good.”
