Woodford Folk Festival 2011 lineup

Woodford Folk Festival is back and celebrating the 25th anniversary this year and has announced their monster line up. Running from December 27th 2010 to January 1st 2011 at the longstanding home of Woodfordia, it promises a great way to welcome in the new year. Boasting 620 acts across the six days, encompassing live music, comedy, cultural activists and environmentalists and even two former Prime Ministers, the local lineup so far includes:

The Cat Empire, Basement Birds, You Am I, Kate Miller-Heidke, Katie Noonan and The Captains, Blue King Brown, The Break, Laneous and The Family Yah, Dubmarine, Bang Bang Boss Kelly, Lior, The Barons Of Tang, Drawn From Bees, Tijuana Cartel, Tim Freedman, Archie Roach, Mama Kin, Jeff Lang, Microwave Jenny, Felix and The Phoenix, Hermitude, Marshall and The Fro, Cumbia Cosmonauts, Tinpan Orange, Vika and Linda Bull, Christa Hughes and The Honkytonk Shonks, Flap!, The Chemist, Leah Flanagan, kooii, Radical Son, Jackie Marshall, That 1 Guy, The Little Stevies, Shane Howard and his Band and Yeshe.

There’s also a large contingent of international acts being shipped over:

Charles Walker (USA), Love In The Circus (USA), Steve Salas and Bernard Fowler (USA), The Whitetop Mountaineers (USA), the Tom Fun Orchestra (Canada), Jill Barber (Canada), Dan Mangan (Canada), Matthew Barber (Canada), Passenger (UK), Katzenjammer (Norway), and Baskery (Sweden).

There are also forums discussing sustainability, climate change and activists, wandering performance art and roaming street theatre, comedy performances from The Bedroom Philosopher, workshops, and a rocket ship made entirely out of various bits and pieces from around the venue.
