Two of Melbourne’s most dearly missed rock acts hit the stage for the first time in years last night, with The Vasco Era and Little Red both taking to The Corner Hotel for a good cause.
The Keep Star Shining even took place as a 21st birthday party and fundraiser for music fan Star Gray, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer. Joining Dan Sultan, Big Scary and The Pretty Little on the bill, R&B unit Little Red performed their first show since disbanding in 2012, while Apollo Bay boys made good The Vasco Era played together for the first time since 2013.
Fan shot footage shows wild scenes during The Vasco Era’s performance of 2007 Oh We Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside cut ‘Honey Bee (When It Was Making Weird Love Songs)’, with headliner Dan Sultan nonchalantly picking up bass duties after bassist Ted O’Neil ventured for a crowd surf.
Watch footage of Vasco Era and Little Red’s respective performances below, and here’s hoping these one–off shows won’t be so one–off in the future.
The Vasco Era’s performance tonight was one of the most impactful and profound exhibits of rock music i have ever seen. #thevascoera @postpercy A video posted by Dan Watt (@stardestroyer69) on
