Watch: Conan O’Brien, Chance The Rapper cameo in Jeff Tweedy’s new clip
Parks and Recreation cult hero Nick Offerman has directed the new clip for Tweedy, the solo side project for Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and his teenage son Spencer.
The quirky clip for ‘Low Key’ sees the Tweedys go door-to-door to spruik their new album Sukierae. It and features some star-studded cameos from the likes of Nirvana producer Steve Albini, Chance The Rapper, Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche, soul icon Mavis Staples and Boardwalk Empire star Michael Shannon – can you spot them all?
Sukierae features 20 new Jeff Tweedy-penned tracks backed by 18-year-old son Spencer Tweedy on drums. Jeff Tweedy describes the album as a solo release performed as a duo. “When I set out to make this record, I imagined it being a solo thing, but not in the sense of one guy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing,” he says. “Solo to me meant that I would do everything – write the songs, play all the instruments and sing. But Spencer’s been with me from the very beginning demo sessions, playing drums and helping the songs take shape.”
Sukierae is out now through dBpm/Anti Records.
