WAMi winners announced – FL takes one home

The Western Australian Music Industry awards took place last night at Perth’s Metro City, celebrating the state’s thriving scene. We’re very happy to say the winner’s list includes FasterLouder!

One of the country’s best-loved bands, Birds Of Tokyo, took the lion’s share of the honours. The lads were voted Most Popular Act, Most Popular Album and Most Popular Live Act by the public, while also picking up the industry-voted Best Rock Act and Best Male Vocalist (that’d be Ian Kenny ). Fellow Perth success stories Tame Impala won two awards – Most Popular Single and Favourite Newcomer – from a whopping ten nominations.

FasterLouder is mighty proud to have won the –  “Most Popular Website’ award for our Perth section. We’ve always held the WAMIs in high esteem and it’s heartening to see such exciting things happening in WA. A big round of applause to all the hard-working WA contributors.

FL also presented –  “Best Hardcore/Punk Act’, with a stellar nominees list of Eleventh He Reaches London, Extortion, Project Mayhem and The Painkillers. True to their solid hometown reputation, the award went to rollicking rock and roll two-piece The Painkillers.

The Devil Rides Out were named best hard rock/metal act, The Panics best commercial pop act and Pendulum best live electronic act.
