Violent Soho’s ‘WACO’ is #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart
It’s taken four attempts, but Violent Soho have just landed their first #1.
WACO has entered into the ARIA Albums Chart at number one, ahead of Matt Corby’s Telluric, the soundtrack to the TV series Molly, 25 by Adele, and Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung by Hilltop Hoods. It marks the fourth time in five weeks an Aussie album has debuted at number one.
Violent Soho’s previous best chart position was #6, which they achieved in 2013 with Hungry Ghost. The band issued the following message to fans on Facebook: “We can’t explain how mind blowing this is for our humble selves but thanks so so much to all you legends out there who’ve picked up a copy so far. Honestly, it means the world to us! Now it’s time to party!!!”
Out through I Oh You, WACO was recorded with Bryce Moorhead at a Brisbane studio called The Shed. It was described by FL writer Jody Macgregor as Hungry Ghost part two. “But there’s nothing wrong with that … Waco is loud, angry, and churning, there are lots of screams, and some lines you can sing along to. It’s a Violent Soho album and a real good one.”
Violent Soho will head out on the road on a national tour with DZ Deathrays and Dune Rats in May. Click here for tour dates.
