Violent Soho took a camera backstage at Laneway festival
Violent Soho gave fans a taste of the followup to their huge 2013 album Hungry Ghost on the recent Laneway festival tour, but what went on backstage away from the massive crowds screaming “hell fuck yeah!”? Check out drummer Michael Richards’ diary to find out and start counting down the days until the band’s new record Waco is released on March 18. Photos by MATT WARRELL.
Kirin J Callinan hosted this whole banger of a festival but he skipped the after party to catch a flight to the Grammys. At least we got to see his penis again.
Hands in for JJ Peters! “JJ!!!”
Henery is a rock god and likes to point at himself.
Thanks to the mega crowd in Adelaide! What a bloody good time!
Hanging with our tour manager Mawds is great cos we love him and he is our hero. There is a documentary about him soon to make its way onto the YouTubes.
James Tids doing his thing in the smoke machine like full Gandalf.
The other guys keep telling me not to talk to the audience but I kept doing it and so instead they just turned my mic off. Jks.
Brissy crowd was pretty pretty pretty good!
Bit of Gandalf smoke machine vibes were had by all.
Totally wrong angle for correct guitar playing but looks bad ass!
James is growing Obama-style lizard-people scales which he claims are from “treatment on his chronic back pain”, but I don’t believe him for a second.
I’m sort of more of a frog-people guy myself.
Frog-people and lizard-people love cuddles!
People were climbing the trees during our set. What a bad ass crowd! It was such an honour for us to play on the Dean Turner stage.
Celebrating our legend mate Dean Turner with some super important friends, Adalita and Linda Bosidis. Such good times!
The sun was so intense in our faces during this show. Like looking at Jesus’ butt crack.
Henery has got mega moves. He is my favourite bass player to watch. So rad getting to play in a band with this lord.
James is totally placing his face inside of a vortex of hair in this pic while Andy from Poison City creeps hard in the background.
This guy is half frog-people half lizard-people and full mosh.
Johann Ponniah from our label I Oh You couldn’t afford Laneway tix so we let him watch from a really good spot from behind the fence. Best spot right next to Main Stage.
