Two more acts added to Soundwave 2013 lineup

Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has revealed that the festival’s lineup which already includes 73 bands including Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink 182, A Perfect Circle, Paramore, Garbage, Slayer is set to grow with the addition of two acts next week.

The most likely candidates for these two new places on the lineup are sludge metal crew Baroness, and Creed and Alter Bridge lead guitarist Mark Tremonti.

The day before the second lineup announcement for Soundwave 2013, Maddah had also announced that he’d been forced to “pull 2 of the metal [acts] off the announcement til further notice” and confirmed that one of those acts was Baroness, who had been involved in a serious accident the day before. The band’s tour bus crashed in heavy rain and fell nine metres from a viaduct near Bath, England. Frontman John Baizley suffered a broken left arm and broken left leg. Drummer Allen Blickle and bassist Matt Maggioni both suffered fractured vertebrae.

The addition of Tremonti to the Soundwave lineup is far clearer with Maddah declaring on Twitter: “IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!”. Tremonti has been awarded the title of “Guitarist of the Year” three times by Guitar World and in last year Total Guitar magazine named him the fourth greatest heavy metal guitarist of all time. His debut solo album, All I Was, was released in July this year.

In other Soundwave lineup news, Jamey Jasta of Kindom of Sorrow has teased fans by announcing that he “might bring in a VERY special guest to play guitar or bass” on the Soundwave tour. KoS touring bassist Aaron “Bubble” Patrick (Devildriver) and guitarist Steve Gibb (Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees son, Black Label Society, Crowbar) are unable to join KoS on the Soundwave tour.
