The 10 best Like A Versions of 2016

5. Matt Corby – ‘Chains’

Another artist with one hell of a set of lungs, Corby took a Tina Arena classic and injected it with shiver inducing harmonies. Don’t question it, just watch.

4. Just A Gent – ‘Day N Nite’

Maitland producer Just A Gent made his Like A Version count by covering Kid Cudi’s monster cut ‘Day N Nite’. Apart from the stunning production, it was L-Fresh The Lion’s crushing verse that lit this one on fire.

3. Luca Brasi – ‘How To Make Gravy’

Tassie’s premier rock band covering an Australian classic? It was always to be great – and it was.

2. A.B. Original feat. Paul Kelly & Dan Sultan – ‘Dumb Things’

The second Paul Kelly song to land in this list, this one was particularly special. A.B. Original released one of the year’s best records in Reclaim Australia, and so expectations were high when they landed in the studio for their turn. They didn’t disappoint, bringing in Kelly himself and giving one of the most memorable performances of the year.

1. DMA’s – ‘Believe’

This is what Like A Version was made for. One of the nation’s best loved alternative bands taking on a pop disco classic and turning it into an acoustic stunner. Cher’s ‘Believe’ was probably the last thing that listeners expected the DMA’s to turn up with, but thank heavens they did.
