Time to begin the Splendour rumours: Big Boi touring in July 2013
OutKast member Big Boi has announced that he’ll be returning to Australia for a tour in July next year, prompting speculation that we could see him on the lineup for Splendour in the Grass 2013. Although that could just be “vicious lies and dangerous rumor”.
The rapper has revealed the tour plans on Twitter in an exchange with Theophilus London, who supported his last Australian tour. That tour in August last year was reviewed by FL as “a masterclass of hip-hop swagger”.

While it does seem a little early to begin speculating about the Splendour lineup, Big Boi would be a solid addition to the bill – especially if he was joined by some of the collaborators on his new album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. Big Boi is joined by several Splendour friendly acts including Wavves, Little Dragon, and indie duo Phantogram, with the album described by Pitchfork as “a genre-busting statement of artistic restlessness”.
Vicious Lies is Big Boi’s second “solo” album following 2010’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and six albums with Andre 3000 as part of OutKast including Speakerboxxx, which was recently selected as one of the most underrated albums of all time by FL.
