Tim Rogers is working on a soul album with The Bamboos

Back in 2012 The Bamboos teamed up with Tim Rogers for the smouldering ‘I Got Burned’ – now they’ve announced that they’re working on an entire album of soulful goodness with the You Am I frontman.

According to a post by The Bamboos on Facebook, the record will be a very collaborative affair with the band referring to the record as a “full length The Bamboos feat. Tim Rogers feat. The Bamboos feat. Tim Rogers album.” The announcement was accompanied by a photo of Bamboos leader Lance Ferguson and Rogers holding what looks like several pages of lyrics.

‘I Got Burned’ was the lead single from The Bamboos’ Medicine Man album and their biggest hit to date, reaching #54 on the Hottest 100. The band also took Tim Rogers on the road in early 2013 on their Rock ‘n Soul Medicine Show tour which featured a setlist including a few You Am I classics such as Rumble’ and ‘Heavy Heart’ reworked in Bamboos style. Rogers also took the lead on covers of The Meters’ ‘Just Kissed My Baby’, Dr. John’s ‘Right Place, Wrong Time’ and The Rolling Stones’ ‘Can’t You Hear Me Knocking’.

The Bamboos followed up on the guest heavy Medicine Man album – which also featured vocals by Megan Washington, Aloe Blacc and Daniel Merriweather – with last year’s Fever In The Road album. Vocals on the new album were split between Bamboos members Kylie Auldist and Ella Thompson.
