There’s a big new rumour about the support act for the AC/DC tour
It may have turned out that the rumour about Silverchair, Powderfinger, and Jet all re-forming to support AC/DC on their tour later this year was a steaming heap of bullshit, but that hasn’t stopped the gossip mill from speculating on who is really going to be opening for Acca Dacca when they hit the road on Wednesday November 4. The latest theory, courtesy of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Sticky Carpet, is that it’ll be The Hives.
Calling them “Sweden’s answer to the Ramones and the Easybeats”, which is one way to explain The Hives to people who still read newspapers, the SMH says The Hives are not only rumoured but “hotly rumoured” to be the opening act. It certainly sounds more credible than Triple M’s story about the only three Australian bands they play who aren’t AC/DC being the supports, and it’s not like The Hives have anything against visiting Australia, their last trip being for the Big Day Out in 2014. Time will tell.
