The Stems go gold

20 years after its release, At First Sight, Violets Are Blue, the debut album from Perth garage rock gurus The Stems, has finally gone gold.

Dom Mariani, Richard Lane, Dave Shaw and Julian Matthews parted ways at the peak of their popularity in 1987. Despite At First Sight, Violets Are Blue receiving sparse FM coverage, it was one of the top selling Australian albums of its year and was later names by Rolling Stone in the top 100 Australian albums of all time.

The band’s long-awaited return to the live scene (touring the East Coast with Hoodoo Gurus and Radio Birdman) and the release of new LP Heads Up are undoubtedly responsible for the band’s recent surge in popularity and they’re sure to continue that trend as they set off on another tour in November.
