The Mighty Mighty Bosstones return to Australia

The show has been cancelled. The Bosstones statement is posted below.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have been cranking out their fusion of ska, punk and hardcore at festivals and late night drinking sessions for over 25 years but they haven’t visited Australia since 2002.

That long drought will break in July, but sadly the skacore octet will only be playing one show!

This gig will be the only chance for Australian fans to see the band this year, although Soundwave boss AJ Maddah had announced on Twitter back in March that the ska crew would tour with Soundwave 2010 visitors Reel Big Fish and that Zebrahead had also been invited to join the tour. So maybe, just maybe, he now has them locked in for a visit at Soundwave 2013.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Australian show:

Thursday 5th July – Metro, Sydney Cancelled

Cancellation statement from the band:

MMB were shocked to learn today that the Java Rockin’land Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia has been cancelled. We were really excited about playing Indonesia for the first time and apologize to all those people who have been waiting patiently for us to come. We really hope to return at a later date.

Due to these circumstances in Indonesia which are beyond our control, we will regretfully have to cancel our show in Sydney as well. When we were asked to play the festival in Indonesia we thought it would be a great opportunity to check in on our friends in Australia on the way – despite the fact that playing only one show would not begin to cover our travel expenses. Unfortunately we don’t have time to book any additional shows in Australia with such short notice to make the trip work. We have no choice but to cancel. We offer a sincere apology to all our friends in Australia.

We promise to return and hope to be able to reschedule some shows in the near future.

Thanks for your understanding – MMB
