Tarantino to Direct Hendrix Film
Following the success of both Ray and Walk the Line, Hollywood appears to have attached itself firmly to the biopic bandwagon with Quentin Tarantino reportedly signing on to direct a movie based upon the life of the late Jimi Hendrix.
According to the folk at Dragonslayer Films, the director will be assisted by the guitarists’ brother Leon in bringing the Hendrix story to life and in doing so will have full access to both Jimi’s music and likeness.
The movie will reportedly star musician/professional celebrity Lenny Kravitz and will begin filming later in the year.
In other film related music news, the producers of Slide Away, a movie about the life and death of former INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, are trying to convince former 21 Jump Street star and one time Oasis guitarist, Johnny Depp, to take on the lead role. The movie will reportedly feature the talents of Naomi Watts, Eric Bana, Rachel Griffiths and Sienna Miller, will be directed by Nick Egan and will be filmed predominantly in Australia.
