Stockdale revives Wolfmother two months after “split”

Less than two months ago Andrew Stockdale assured FL he was confident about ditching the Wolfmother name for the release of his new record Keep Moving. Well, that didn’t last long.

Stockdale has this week announced a series of gigs in the US as “Wolfmother”, revealing on Twitter that another album under the old moniker is very likely, telling one fan “we may make another WM record very soon!” He even went so far as to admit he was lying when he said Wolfmother’s last gig was supporting Aerosmith in April. The tweets have since been deleted, but our pals at The Vine have taken a screenshot for posterity.

Stockdale first “announced he was “going solo in March, tweeting, “I’m putting this record out as Andrew Stockdale….. It’s a different trip now and I need to be true to myself.” Speaking to FL a short time later he said the decision had been a long time coming. “It might not be the smartest choice but all I wanted to do was put out a record under my own name and self-produce it” he explained. “I might lose fans or might gain fans, but you’ve got to have a go at doing what you want to do at some point in your life…”

In early June, Stockdale cancelled his national tour just one day before it started, blaming “international commitments”. Those commitments included a US tour that was due to kick off in Dallas on July 26. However, as recent as today the solo dates have been replaced by three “Wolfmother” gigs in California, the first two of which sold out within minutes of going on sale. Tickets for the other show – at The Observatory in Santa Ana on July 17 – are still available for $15 (booking fees inclusive).
