St Jerome’s Laneway Festival announces first line-up

Melbourne’s most popular festival, St Jerome’s Laneway, takes to the road once more to present the East Coast with an indie rock festival, smack bang in the middle of the city.

Returning for its third year in Melbourne, second in Sydney and its inaugural year in Brisbane, the St Jeromes Laneway Festival is set to take over the bars and alleyways of these capital cities again in February/March 2007.

But enough about location – let’s get to the line-up…

Hoboken’s indie rock trio Yo La Tengo will be spreading the love at Sydney and Brisbane Laneway Festival. Swedish pop act, Peter Bjorn & John will make their first Australian appearance. Luke Steele’s The Sleepy Jackson will play their debut Laneway Festival, serving up some of their trademark soaring pop rock. Camera Obscura’s enchanting melodies and undeniable hooks should get the crowd shaking their hips and humming along. Sweden’s pop punk five piece Love is All will bring out the riot grrl inside. Ireland’s Fionn Regan will take things down a notch with his spellbinding folk pop. London psych rockers, Archie Bronson Outfit prove why MOJO has honoured them with Best New Act for 2006.

Remember, The Rat? Well NYC’s The Walkmen will be back, serving up tasty beats from their new album, A Hundred Miles Off.

Last night’s winner of the Breakthrough Artist Award at the ARIAs, Youth Group – will serve up tracks from their latest long player, Casino Twilight Dogs. Hip hop artist Macromantics will take to the stage to serve tracks from her debut release. Local rockers Ground Components lead the decibel assault, Midnight Juggernauts will jump into the fray with their dancey rock pop.
