Soundwave 2013 timetable leaked; “special guest” planned?
Is there a special guest planned for Soundwave 2013?
That’s looking pretty likely after Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed and sludge metal band Kingdom of Sorrow inadvertently leaked the stage three set times for the Sydney and Brisbane legs of the 2013 Soundwave festival tour via Instagram.
The photo confirms that an unnamed mystery act will play a 40-minute set after Kingdom of Sorrow’s performance on the festival’s third stage. Other acts confirmed on that stage include Six Feet Under, Dragonforce, All Time Low, Motion City Soundtrack, Killswitch Engage and Bring Me the Horizon.
While a secret set from Megadeth would magically complete the booking of the Big Four of Thrash Metal, festival promoter AJ Maddah has previously reiterated that this year’s Soundwave was “not a big 4 gig”. A far more likely prospect is a set from Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan’s “other” band Pucifier who will be in the country for shows during the Soundwave tour.
While the rest of the set times haven’t been released yet, festival boss AJ Maddah has revealed several details about set lengths and potential clashes on Twitter. According to Maddah, Metallica will play for two hours; Linkin Park and Blink 182 will both be allocated an hour-and-a-half; and A Perfect Circle and The Offspring will play for 70 minutes. Metallica’s set is expected to clash with performances by Paramore and The Offspring.
The full set times for Brisbane and Sydney are expected to be released at 10pm tonight (Wednesday, February 6). The Melbourne times are likely to be released on the weekend, with the Perth and Adelaide times due out shortly after.
