Sky Ferreira plays down Splendour rumours

Sky Ferreira has played down rumours that she’ll be joining the Splendour in the Grass lineup in 2014, telling FL that she’ll actually be touring Australia before the festival.

“Well I thought it was July, but it’s actually March now,” Ferreira told FL’s Lachlan Kanoniuk this morning. “I’m not actually sure where I’m playing, what I’m playing, or who I’m playing with. But I’m coming over in March. I’m excited, I’ve never been. I went to Asia this summer, but this will be my first time in Australia.”

Earlier this week, the singer-songwriter, model, and actress had hinted that a visit for Splendour was very likely. “I’m definitely coming in July for a festival,” she told The Doctor on triple j. “I’m not quite sure [of the exact date], but it’s in my summer.”

Of course, a visit in March could still pave the way for a return for the festival in Byron Bay. Splendour promoted a hype building tour for Foster the People in 2011, and were so successful deploying the tactic again with Lana Del Rey that she didn’t even have to show up for her tiny club dates to create a pre-Splendour buzz. Early last year dubstep crooner and Mercury Prize winner James Blake played a two-date Australian “tour” in March before returning for Splendour just a few months later.

London Grammar have already revealed that they’re likely to return to play at Splendour 2014. Other acts rumoured for the festival include Outkast and Irish songwriter James Vincent McMorrow.
