Sky Ferreira answers your questions
While Sky Ferreira was in Sydney town last week for a one-off gig she sat down with FL to answer your questions.
You wanted to know about everything from her decision to drop out of high-school, her perfect Saturday, how she writes her songs, why she decided to “speak out against the “abusive shit of online trolls, and if she’ll be releasing a collaboration with recent tour partner Miley Cyrus. Stoking the Splendour in the Grass rumour fire, Sky also repeated the news that her brief promo tour is likely to be followed by a return in July. “It’s to be confirmed,” Sky notes with a sly smile.
Ferreira’s show at Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory was described by FL’s reviewer Caitlin Welsh as pop music perfection. “While she did have help from a backing track or some robust doubling and seemed to be conserving energy by not moving around the stage too much, she channelled what she did have into nailing the vocal,” Welsh wrote. “She may look like a hungover teenager, but her voice has real power: It’s velvety and worn-in, tempering airy, sullen insouciance with plaintive warmth and a solidity that’s a bit buried in the mix on Night Time, My Time.”
The interview with Sky follows on from FL’s recent Q&A with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme where he answered your questions about everything from his favourite ice cream flavour, to his plans for another “Desert Sessions” album, his thoughts on the recent Grammys debacle and his current reading list.
