Sigur Ros announce Harvest Festival sideshows
Following on from Harvest promoter Declan Forde’s revelation that sideshows are very unlikely to be held in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this year, festival headliners Sigur Ros have announced two additional gigs in Perth and Adelaide.
These will be the first shows the band has played in Australia since 2008 and will see then perform songs from new album Valtari. According to the band, Valtari is a more “studio based” album than any of its predecessors (which usually start life as rehearsal room jams). Bassist Georg Holm explains that “I really can’t remember why we started this record, I no longer know what we were trying to do back then. I do know session after session went pear-shaped, we lost focus and almost gave up…did give up for a while. But then something happened and form started to emerge, and now I can honestly say that it’s the only Sigur Rí³s record I have listened to for pleasure in my own house after we’ve finished it.”
Famed for their perfect production and visually stunning performances, there is no doubt these shows will be a well earned treat for fans.
