Sarah Palin is suing Azealia Banks over some seriously nasty tweets

Azealia Banks and Sarah Palin are both Donald Trump supporters – of course they are – but it was probably inevitable that at some point they would get into a heated public spat. The beef has finally exploded onto the internet. It’s weird. It’s confusing. And it’s as gloriously unhinged as you could have hoped for. Here’s how it all went down.

It all started when this article appeared online last week

It’s a Onion style satire but to be fair it’s often hard to tell if Palin’s entire life isn’t also just an Onion style satire.

Anyway, Banks thought the article was real

So she responded on Twitter with a series of fairly graphic tweets

Banks deleated those tweets when she realised that she’d been duped

But Palin responded anyway bizarrely telling her millions of Facebook fans that she condones racism. The post has been shared over 13,000 times.

Palin then she announced that she’s suing Banks

“I think this time I don’t just sit back and swallow it, but put the fear of God in her by holding her accountable,” she told People. “I’m suing Azealia Banks and can’t wait to share my winnings with others who have gone defenseless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long.”

She also noted that it’s unfair how “if a white girl were to say what this black girl is saying, the screams for the entire white population’s head would be louder than the nonsensical rap that Azealia spews all the way to the bank.”

Banks hit back in an open letter to the former vice presidential candidate

It’s worth reading in full as it’s gloriously weird but if you’re pressed for time here are a few highlights:

– Banks tells Palin that she actually really likes her;
– Explains that her crass tweets are just an example of her “New-York-City sense of humor”;
– Claims that she never said that Palin should be raped but simply that she should have group sex with several African American gentlemen; and
– Announces that “Twitter is not real”.

The letter ends with the suggestion that Bristol Palin wouldn’t have so many “cotdamn kids” if she listened to Banks’ music.

Then she tweeted a few more insults

We can’t wait to see how this all pans out…
