Reward offered for stolen Flaming Lips laser hands

The laser hands belonging to The Flaming Lips have been found. In the early hours of Sunday morning, organisers of the Southbound Festival posted the following message and photo to Facebook.

And in even more AMAZING NEWS, The Flaming Lips missing hands have been found! Stolen by some dork, and dumped unceremoniously in a nearby paddock, they have been located by our site crew and are intact and on their way back to the band.

After their performance headlining the Sunny Stage at the Southbound Festival on Friday night, The Flaming Lips had their signature laser hands stolen. The prop are an important part of their set, which are worn by frontman Wayne Coyne and allow him to shoot lasers over the audience as can be seen below.

In the early hours of this morning, the band tweeted a plea for help in finding the hands.

The Southbound Festival’s organisers have now joined in, offering a reward of four tickets to their 2014 event for the person who brings back the laser hands. They posted the following message to Facebook this afternoon.

Please help us and The Flaming Lips out – someone stole their amazing giant laser hands and both we and the Lips desperately want them back.

We’re offering 4 x VIP tickets to Southbound 2014 to the person to gives them back. And any info would be incredibly welcomed!! We’ve heard whispers from the campsite, so someone knows about it!

The Southbound Festival takes place at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, Busselton, and climaxes tonight with performances from Two Door Cinema Club, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Hilltop Hoods and the performers of triple j’s most-played song of last year, Parachute Youth.

Anyone with information about the theft of the laser hands is urged to get in touch with the organisers of Southbound via their Facebook.
