Redcoats tour and video premiere

To mark the release of their debut self-titled album next month Redcoats are heading out on a twelve date east coast tour, presented by FasterLouder.

Following a huge year which saw the Melbourne four-piece support Stone Temple Pilots and their single ‘Dreamshaker’ land at seventy-six on the triple j Hottest 100, Redcoats bunkered down in a valley at the foot of the Grampians to start work on their new record. These isolated “jam sessions” were eventually captured by legendary US producer Dave Schiffman (Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers) who flew in to work with the boys at Studios 301 in Byron. “We set out to do something that was bold” lead singer Emilio Mercuri explains, “It’s an honest brand of rock’n’roll.”

Having finished 2011 on the road with Karnivool, Redcoats are gearing up to head out on their very own headline tour that includes stops in Ballarat, Toowoomba and Newcastle. FL was at their last show in Melbourne: “Channeling a certain Chris Cornell vibe, vocalist Emilio Mercuri commands attention on stage without roaming across it or distracting the audience with false bravado, but moreso from the strength of his vocal range that sees their songs soar. With an undeniable Kyuss influence, guitarist Neil Wilkinson and Rhys Kelly on bass prove a stellar combination, with Andrew Braidner the driving force behind the very 90s grunge sound.”
