Queensland Music Awards announced

The 2011 Queensland Music Awards (formerly Q Song Awards) were held at the Old Museum in Brisbane last night, and although some big names took home some gongs, there were some lesser known names acknowledged as well.

The big winner was 19 year old Emma Louise, picking up three awards including Song Of The Year and the Pop Award for her chart-topping Jungle.

Elsewhere, the now defunct The Middle East collected album of the year, while Kate Miller-Heidke and Ben Salter picked up the public-voted Courier Mail Most Popular Female and Male awards respectively, with The Amity Affliction taking home the Most Popular Group.

Sam Hales from The Jungle Giants was awarded the brand new Arts Queensland Billy Thorpe Scholarship, which gives him $10,000 to pursue his musical dreams.

You can catch the currently unsigned Emma Louise supporting Josh Pyke as he tours around Australia in September.
