A year on from the release of their collab record Rules of Attraction Tim Rogers and The Bamboos have dropped the video for new single ‘Success’ – and it’s premiering on FL exclusively today.
Filmed live at Sydney’s The Metro Theatre in June last year, the clip was directed by Matt O’Connell and also features candid behind-the-scenes footage of the band. “When I first heard the new Bamboos album it put these images in my head of funk style from the ‘60s and ‘70s,” O’Connell says of the inspiration for the video. “The only genuine way to capture that feeling is to shoot on film – and at the last minute we decided to roll on this track at the Metro in Sydney.”
“The live footage was shot on a Bolex factory modified EBM 16mm film camera, using old Kodak 7266 Black and White reversal stock,” he continues. “It’s a challenge in every way – it’s so gritty and grainy, you can hardly see to focus, the film can jam. Shooting live on film is a rare thing these days but I think it really brings out the raw emotion of a band like the Bamboos.” Watch the clip below.
