Plug-In City [Audio]: Plugged for success

In the last 6 months Melbourne 5-piece Plug-In City have had the opportunity to support acts as diverse as Daft Punk, New Young Pony Club and Damn Arms, and later this month they head out on their first ever festival tour as part of the V Festival nationwide. Not bad for a bunch of guys who only released their debut EP in the latter half of 2007… Not bad at all.

While it may seem like this has all happened by chance – and rather quickly – the truth is that Plug-In City had been shopping the release around since it was recorded in January, 2007. Having first come to the attention of indie label du jour Modular when they played one of their parties, the band made a rather astute decision; they passed on a copy of their – at the time – unreleased, self-recorded and self-funded EP. The label quickly caught on to what they were doing, and the rest – as they say – is history.

With their debut album nearing release, FasterLouder recently caught up with Justin to find out how they’re trucking in the lead up to the V Festival tour, and what’s on the cards for the remainder of 2008.

Plug-In City’s debut EP is available now through Modular, and you can catch the band touring as part of the V Festival at the following dates:

Mar 29 – Sydney

Mar 30 – Gold Coast

Apr 5 – Melbourne

Apr 6 – Perth
