Pennywise postpone 2012 Australian tour dates

Pennywise have postponed their forthcoming tour due to injury.

Despite the band assuring fans that their Australian dates would not be affected by singer Zoli Teglas’ back injury, Soundwave Touring head honcho AJ Maddah confirmed the cancellation on Twitter this afternoon: “Oh Feck! Pennywise tour dates postponed. Dude’s done his back. Can’t get on plane. New date tba.”

Teglas underwent emergency back surgery after collapsing on stage at Germany’s With Full Force festival in early July. The band issued a statement following the collapse: “We would like to thank everyone who has expressed care and concern for Zoli after he collapsed on stage at the Full Force Festival due to lower back complications from a herniated disk. He had an emergency procedure done on his back on Saturday as a result of the severe back pain he had been experiencing throughout the tour. The surgery went as perfect as could be. He’s recovering very well and is already up and slowly moving around. Zoli is in good spirits and is recovering nicely. Unfortunately due to his recovery time, the last leg of the tour will be canceled. The band will however be back out to finish the last scheduled tour date in Spain at the Aupa Lumbreiras Festival”

The tour, which was scheduled to commence this Thursday in Coolangatta, marked the release of the band’s new album All Or Nothing – their first record since 2008 and the departure of former singer Jim Lindberg. Supports were Pennsylvania punks The Menzingers and England’s Sharks.

Stay tuned for the new dates.
