Pennywise collapse won’t affect Australian tour
Pennywise singer Zoli Teglas has undergone emergency back surgery after collapsing on stage at Germany’s With Full Force festival on the weekend.
Teglas fell to the stage in pain during the band’s set due to complications from a herniated disc and the band has been forced to cancel shows across Europe.
The band will return to the stage for a show at the Aupa Lumbreiras Festival in Spain on the 13th of July and then has over a month to recuperate before stopping in at Japan’s Summer Sonic festival on the way to tour Australia in August with The Menzingers and Sharks.
Pennywise have issued a statement on Teglas’ condition and their tour plans on Facebook: “We would like to thank everyone who has expressed care and concern for Zoli after he collapsed on stage at the Full Force Festival due to lower back complications from a herniated disk. He had an emergency procedure done on his back on Saturday as a result of the severe back pain he had been experiencing throughout the tour. The surgery went as perfect as could be. He’s recovering very well and is already up and slowly moving around. Zoli is in good spirits and is recovering nicely. Unfortunately due to his recovery time, the last leg of the tour will be canceled. The band will however be back out to finish the last scheduled tour date in Spain at the Aupa Lumbreiras Festival on July 13th.”
