Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ set for 20th birthday reissue
There are many significant 20th birthday’s in 2011 – Sonic the Hedgehog, Britney’s little sis Jamie Lynn Spears and The Wiggles – and there are also several classic records that will mark their two decade anniversary including Screamadelica, Massive Attack’s Blue Lines, Metallica’s ‘black’ album, Achtung Baby and Pearl Jam’s Ten.
One of the most celebrated albums of rock history Nirvana’s iconic second album, Nevermind, also turns 20 on September 24th and to mark the occasion there’ll be a 4-CD/1-DVD reissue of the record. According to Spin the set will include rarities, b-sides, and unreleased recordings, as well as “unspecified BBC radio appearances and an unreleased concert in its entirety on DVD.”
It sounds like a far more fitting tribute than that abandoned covers tour starring John Paul Young’s son Danny Marx Young and Steve Balbi from Noiseworks. Or Jared Leto’s bizarre MTV Unplugged ‘homage’ .
