Madonna says reviews of her Australian tour prove that “sexism is alive and kicking”
Madonna has hit back at tabloid reviews of her first Australian shows since 1993 denying reports that she has been drunk on stage.
Several reports have suggested that Madonna is so distraught by the custody battle with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie over their son Rocco that she has been struggling to get through her shows. Basically when Dave Grohl skols a beer on stage it’s proof that he’s “the coolest man in rock” but when Madonna has a drink on stage it’s a clear sign that she’s having a “meltdown”.
Responding to her critics and the tabloid rumours, the pop star has taken to Instagram claiming that the stories as simply sexist rubbish. “I could never do any of my shows high or drunk,” she says. “And yes underlying all of this is sexism and mysongony which proves that not only do we not get equal pay but we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! Sexism is alive and kicking.”
In her post she also shared a lengthy comment by a fan who says that “the latest media onslaught against Madonna [is] absolutely ridiculous.” The fan, Remington Graves, also claims that Madonna could not possibly perform her “tightly choreographed, intricate, two-hour production” if she was intoxicated. “It’s called physics. It’s called logic. Use it. Madonna has never been drunk on stage,” he says.
Thanks for supporting me. Too bad people don’t know the art of acting and playing a character. I could never do any of my shows high or drunk. And yes underlying all of this is sexism and mysongony which proves that not only do we not get equal pay bUt we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! . Sexism is alive and kicking but i am ❤️#livingforlove
