Lorde announces Australian tour this April

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming demand Lorde has added a second Melbourne date to here tour. The first Sydney show sold out in less than an hour.

UPDATE: Ahead of the official release of tickets, Lorde has added an extra date to her Australian tour. She will now play two shows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavillion.

The first time Lorde toured our shores less than a year ago she played intimate shows at Sydney’s Goodgod and Melbourne’s Workers’ Club; a mere ten months, a number one hit and a couple of Grammys later and she’s coming back to fill stadiums.

New Zealand’s pop prodigy is backing up her headline spot on the Laneway line-up earlier this year with a national all-ages tour this April and May, bringing her new live show (with “a killer light show and a few surprises along the way”) that started its massive US tour in Austin last week.

Last November FL kicked off our Headliners feature series with a definitive look at Lorde’s rise from Auckland teenager to global superstar; New Zealand journalist Duncan Greive spent six months charting her journey, from the studio to family dinners. “I was conscious that there won’t be many writers ever who get to follow that kind of trajectory,” Greive told FL, “when an ordinary person, over a matter of months, becomes an international pop star.”
