Live Preview: Future Music Festival 2013

What can you expect when Bloc Party, The Prodigy, Stone Roses, Dizzee Rascal, Azealia Banks and fun. arrive for Future Music Festival in March? To help get you well and truly primed, we’ve put together a live preview featuring set-lists, live footage and our first-hand reports.

The Stone Roses

WHAT TO EXPECT

We haven’t seen the Stone Roses in Australia since 1995, but the legendary band’s return to the live circuit after a 16-year absence has been met with glowing reviews. After making their return in front of 240,000 fans in Manchester, Stereogum declared that the extended versions of ‘Fools Gold’ and the climax of ‘I Am Resurrection’ were “undeniable” highlights. “It proved that the years of incommunicado hadn’t eroded the rhythmic connection that made the Stone Roses the legends they once were, and, on the strength of Saturday’s show, seem to be becoming all over again.”

“We’ve still got it,” the band’s singer Ian Brown emphatically told the massive crowd, and The Guardian agreed, noting that the band had that indefinable something. “Whatever ‘it’ is – something intangible that turns the natural order of a live show on its head – the Stone Roses are definitely in possession.”
