Listen to MIA sample Blur on ‘UNBREAK my Mixtape’

MIA has taken a little piece of Damon Albarn’s heart(ache), sampling Blur’s ‘Tender’ on her latest release ‘UNBREAK my Mixtape’.

The track, labelled as a “soft, lovers rock break up song” on Soundcloud, also features a sample of cult folk icon Karen Dalton’s ‘I Love You More Than Words Can Say’. Presumably the song will appear on the repeatedly delayed Matangi album, which had been due for release on January 31 this year before being pushed back to April 15. It’s now scheduled for release via Interscope on November 5. The release date was only set after M.I.A. threatened on Twitter to leak the album herself, saying that “If interscope takes longer i can always leak this next week and make a new one by the time they are ready.”

The album’s first single ‘Bring The Noize’ was released back in June, and other new tracks including ‘Only 1 U’, ‘Come Walk With Me’, ‘Doobie’, and ‘atTENTtion’ have also been leaked or released on Soundcloud. M.I.A.’S last album, Maya (or, to put it the way she likes it, /\/\ /\ Y /\ ) was released in 2010 and featured production from Diplo, Switch, Blaqstarr, Rusko, John Hill, Derek E. Miller and M.I.A. herself. That year she also released the mixtape Vicki Leekx, which won two MTV Music Video Awards for the single ‘Bad Girls’.
