Listen to Arcade Fire and David Bowie’s epic collaboration ‘Reflektor’

Arcade Fire have teamed up with David Bowie for an eight-minute disco tinged epic, ‘Reflektor’.

The lead track from their upcoming album was produced by LCD Soundsystem’s producer James Murphy in New York City and features Win Butler and Régine Chassagne taking a turn on lead vocals before Bowie makes his cameo appearance. It’s easily the band’s most danceable release to date with its jittery disco beat, electronic pulses and saxophones. Listen below before it’s taken down:

A video clip for ‘Reflektor’ directed by Dutch photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn will be released shortly. In the 2012 documentary Anton Corbijn: Inside Out, Corbijn describes Arcade Fire as “music that brings everyone together” but the teaser for the clip is a stark affair featuring shots of black-and-white waves breaking in reverse and band members slipping in and out of focus. The soundtrack to the 41-second ‘Reflektor’ teaser features soaring string section and a bit of bongo work that could have been lifted from The Rolling Stones’ ‘Sympathy for the Devil’.

The band doesn’t have any shows on its schedule until the Big Day Out tour early next year, but not even promoter Ken West knows exactly what to expect. “The scary thing about Arcade Fire is that they don’t know what they’re bringing because they haven’t designed their shows yet,” West told FL in July. We do know that they won’t clash with the festival’s other headliners – Blur and Pearl Jam – but that’s about it.

Arcade Fire’s fourth album will be released on October 29.
