Kyuss Lives!, Red Fang sidewaves

UPDATE: January 11 – Orange Goblin added to the lineup for both Kyuss Lives! and Red Fang Sidewave shows.

The final headline shows for Kyuss Lives will take place in Melbourne and Sydney in February with support from fellow stoner rock favourites Red Fang.

Kyuss Lives! will be touring Australia as part of Soundwave Festival, but following the tour the band will be retiring the Kyuss name to continue on under a new name: Vista Chino.

The group, comprised of three founding members of Kyuss – Brant Bjork, John Garcia and Nick Oliveri – plus guitarist Bruno Fevery, have been forced into the name change by legal challenges from fellow Kyuss founding member Josh Homme. The Queens of The Stone Age head honcho filed suit alongside bassist Scott Reeder, who had been a Kyuss member from 1992-1995, to prevent the current incarnation from continuing the Kyuss legacy under the Kyuss Lives! name. Garcia and Bjork responded to the allegations declaring that they are “both shocked and saddened that our friend and one time band mate has chosen to file a lawsuit against us, especially after having positive discussions since our reformation.”

Thankfully, the dispute has now been settled and Oliveri has even returned to record with QOTSA for the first time since he was fired from the band in 2004. The new QOTSA album will also feature Dave Grohl and Trent Reznor. The members of Kyuss Lives! are planning to release a new album under the Vista Chino name later this year.
