Josh Freese quits Soundwave Festival headliners A Perfect Circle

Drummer to the stars Josh Freese has quit A Perfect Circle.

Freese has been a member of the group since 1999, but has announced on Twitter that “After 13 years, I’ve decided to leave A Perfect Circle with no plans of returning. Apologies for those inquiring about upcoming shows.” Those upcoming shows include APC’s tour with Soundwave Festival early next year.

Freese has been a member of A Perfect Circle since the release of their first album and participated in their 2010-2011 reunion tour. While he was considered a core member of the band, as a drummer-for-hire Freese has also manned the kit for fellow Soundwave 2013 bands Paramore and The Vandals as well as a long list of acts including Weezer, Devo, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Ricky Martin, Miley Cyrus, The Veronicas, Sting, Good Charlotte, Clay Aiken, Puddle Of Mudd and New Radicals.

A Perfect Circle are yet to name their new drummer, although when Freese was unable to join APC on tour in 2011 due to a scheduling conflict with Weezer he was replaced by Jeff Friedl (ASHES dIVIDE, Puscifer, Devo, CSS).
