Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist from The Hives offered to front AC/DC
Doctors have told AC/DC singer Brian Johnson that he should “stop touring immediately” or face “total hearing loss”. The 10 final dates of their current tour have been postponed, with guitarist Angus Young saying they’ll play them later this year, “likely with a guest vocalist”.
One candidate for that position is Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, the exuberant frontman of Swedish rock band The Hives, who supported AC/DC on their recent Australian tour. As Almqvist wrote on Facebook, “I have many many years of experience rocking the worlds biggest stages and according to others I am the greatest frontman in rock, plus judging from the reaction in Australia your crowd already seems to really like me. Plus, I have already been singing those songs since I was 6 years old.”
Almqvist isn’t the only candidate putting himself forward. Dave Evans, who was AC/DC’s singer for several months in the early 1970s before Bon Scott took his place, has also offered to step in.
