George Clinton to bring the funk at Golden Plains 2013

Aunty Meredith has rolled the dice and come up “funky” for Golden Plains Lucky Seven, announcing the addition of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic to next year’s lineup.

Having already confirmed Cat Power for a sundown set on the Saturday evening, Aunty M has entrusted Clinton with the Sunday night party set, where he will deliver “a two hour funkextravaganza with a 17-piece band that will constitute a Supernatural Funk Miracle…”. Move over Nile Rodgers, the Mothership of Groove is on its way.

Last here for Blues Fest in April, FL summed up the George Clinton experience: “Parliament-Funkadelic shows are famously sprawling affairs so there’s time to take in the spectacle and still plenty of free time for your mind to drift. You wonder why the band members are dressed like homeless wonks, Sunset Strip prowlers, comedy pimps and Las Vegas cocktail waitresses. Or for that matter why the middle aged man next to you is wearing zebra print pants and an open paisley shirt. Your mind is free to ponder all of these things, but most of all you just dance.”

If you haven’t yet entered the Ballot, do so now here, before 12 noon this Monday, October 22. Lucky winners will be notified on Tuesday when the rest of the 2013 Golden Plains lineup will be revealed at about 8:30am.

Aunty Meredith is proud to announce that Golden Plains 2013 will be the same price as this year’s event and that it’s still BYO, free from commercial sponsors and dickheads, and still on just one stage so you miss a moment of the musical action.
