Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz is threatening to bring his dubstep to Australia
Pete Wentz has been many things – Ashlee Simpson’s husband, accidental nude model, a nominee for Peta’s Sexiest Vegetarian of The Year and Fall Out Boy’s bassist – now he has turned his hand to producing dubstep under the name Black Cards.
With Fall Out boy on hiatus, Wentz teamed up with vocalist Bebe Rexha to create what he calls “weird pop” and so far the Black Cards have found some success remixing the likes of Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, Rihanna and Major Lazer.
Although Bebe Rexha has now quit, Wentz is soldiering on and has announced plans to release a debut album hinting that it could feature a lineup of guests that only the most evil of MTV fixated corporate rock fans could endorse – Travis McCoy, Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn, Shaggy, Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship and Pat Monahan of Train.
After enduring what he calls the “toxic cloud that was the past year of my life” Wentz has now set his sights on an Australian tour with Next Level Booking – the promoters behind the upcoming tours from Tha Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, Lil John and Chingy – announcing that they’ll be bringing Black Cards to Australia from the 30th of May until the 3rd of June.
There are no venues yet confirmed for the tour, but while patiently we wait for the full details you can get yourself in the mood by listening to the new Black Cards mixtape featuring Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Lana Del Rey and M83.
