DJ Mehdi dies aged 34

French DJ, producer, musician and member of the Ed Banger crew DJ Mehdi has died aged just 34.

The news splashed across Twitter overnight with artists including Chromeo, Drake, Skream, Mr Ozio, A Trak and other expressing their condolences and has now been confirmed by a report on Mixmag, which reports that DJ Mehdi has “died following a fatal accident in which he fell from a roof at his home in France”.

Working regularly as a DJ, producer and remixer before finding international acclaim as an integral member of Pedro Winter’s Ed Banger label roster, DJ Mehdi released his Lucky Boy album in 2006 before kicking off the Carte Blanche collaboration with Riton, with which he championed a return to classic house sounds. He was also a noted remixer producing mixes for Architecture in Helsinki, New Young Pony Club, Santigold, Miike Snow, Daft Punk, Cassius and many others.

He was due to play in Australia this summer as a part of the Summadayze and Summafieldayze festival tours.
