Death Grips announce Big Day Out sideshows

Death Grips will launch a full scale assault on audiences in January 2013 as part of the Big Day Out tour and at their own headline club shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Vocalist Stefan Burnett and production team Zach Hill and Andy Morin have been one of the most talked about acts of 2012 – although that buzz hasn’t always been about the actual music. While Spin named them 2012 ‘Artist Of The Year’ and they’ve picked up accolades from Pitchfork, NME, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker and countless others, the band’s greatest claim to infamy has been their expulsion from Epic Records following the deliberate leak of their controversial third offering No Love Deep Web.

Dumping the Sacramento trio, Epic Records announced that “when marketing and publicity stunts trump the actual music, we must remind ourselves of our core values. To that end, effective immediately, we are working to dissolve our relationship with Death Grips. We wish them well.”

The Big Day Out tour and sideshows will be the first chance Australian fans will have to see whether the group’s notoriously frenzied live shows can match up to all the controversy.
