Cypress Hill announce Sidewaves

Californian hip-hop crew Cypress Hill have announced they’ll play two “Sidewaves” while touring for the sold out Soundwave festival in February next year.

The group are playing an all-ages show in Sydney on February 25 at the University of New South Wales Roundhouse. On February 28, they’ll be in Melbourne, bringing their live show to the Forum Theatre.

It’s been more than two years since they last visited Australia for the 2010 Coaster Festival, during which time they’ve experimented with their sound. Their latest EP Cypress x Rusko is a five-track collaboration with UK dubstep producer Rusko, and features Damian Marley on the single ‘Can’t Keep Me Down’. They’ve also contributed vocals to electro producer Deadmau5 on his fourth studio album, Album Title Goes Here.

Over the past 20 years, the group has sold over 18 million albums, and were a huge part of the West Coast rap movement that dominated the ‘90s thanks to cult hits like ‘Insane in the Brain’, ‘Rock Superstar’, ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man’, ‘We Aint Goin Out Like That, Lick A Shot’, ‘Throw Your Set in the Air’, ‘Hand on the Pump’, ‘Real Estate’, ‘Dr Greenthumb’ and ‘Tequila Sunrise’.

Other acts playing Soundwave include Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Linkin Park and Blink-182.

Tickets for the Cypress Hill Sidewaves go on sale on Friday, December 21, 9am.
