Cults announce GTM sideshows
New York indie duo Cults have announced a couple of Groovin The Moo sideshows to coincide with their visit this April.
Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion will play Sydney’s Metro Theatre on April 29, The Corner Hotel in Melbourne on April 30, The Zoo in Brisbane on May 6, and The Bakery in Perth on May 9.
The pair released their second album Static in October 2013 – the long-awaited follow-up to their eponymous debut. The record is the first we have heard from Oblivion and Follin since they ended their romantic relationship with one another last year, and as The Guardian noted in their review of the record, this “seems to have given their music a giddier, frantic edge.”
Cults were last on our shore for Laneway 2012 where they played alongside The Horrors and M83. Speaking with FL ahead of that tour discussed how the band was dealing with all the attention they had received from the press following the release of their debut.. “It’s funny because our album was about the feeling of wanting to be young forever and evade responsibility. and some how by making a record we’ve assumed more responsibility than we would have in any other career” he said. “It kind of sucks some times, but other times it’s really fun.”
