Collaboration addict Dave Grohl now working with Soundgarden

2012’s hardest working man – Dave Grohl – has revealed yet another project on his insanely overfilled schedule: Directing Soundgarden’s upcoming video for their next single ‘By Crooked Steps’.

Judging by the series of photos posted to Soundgarden’s Instagram page, the ‘By Crooked Steps’ video will feature a motorcycle gang called “Crooked Steps.” Other photos show frontman Chris Cornell playing cards, seedy dive bar characters and shots of Soundgarden performing live.

FL’s feature review of Soundgarden’s first album in 16 years, King Animal, referred to ‘By Crooked Steps’ as “the work of four men with little interest either in their past or in the current musical landscape, but they are also the work of a band that know their own strength.” The band’s drummer Matt Cameron says the track has “a pretty classic Soundgarden vibe.”

In addition to directing the Soundgarden video, Grohl has also kept himself of the streets this year working on the new Queens of the Stone Age album and directing the Sound City documentary. Work on the doco has seen Grohl collaborating with his fellow Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear; Josh Homme, Chris Goss and Alain Johannes from Queens of the Stone Age; members of Rage Against the Machine, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Fear, Slipknot, Kyuss, Cheap Trick; plus Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks, Trent Reznor and Paul McCartney on the film’s soundtrack. The documentary film also features appearances from Pixies’ Frank Black, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Tom Petty, John Fogerty, and Barry Manilow.
