Clare Bowditch starts a war

In late 2008 Clare Bowditch travelled through Europe on tour with Goyte, settling in Berlin to begin work on her follow up to The Moon Looked On.

Fate guided her to rent an apartment owned by the producer Mocky – famed for his work with Peaches, Jamie Lidell, Gonzales and on Feist’s multi-platinum album The Reminder. So with Feist’s awards sitting on the shelf above her, Bowditch wrote the songs for her new record on Mocky’s piano and tested her work in the underground bars of Berlin.

The album is still being recorded with cut and paste maestro Qua and after another European tour she’ll head to Berlin’s famous Hansa Studios to complete the record with Mocky at the helm. The first taste of the record, a single titled The Start of War featuring Marty Brown and former Bad Seed Mick Harvey, is due in September.

To celebrate the single release Clare and her entourage are touring with a run of shows that takes in –  “unusual and often intimate venues’ as well as a few festival dates.
