CHVRCHES confirmed for Laneway 2014?
A cheeky tweet from Laneway Festival has all but confirmed CHVRCHES on next year’s lineup.
Currently in Australia to play three sold-out shows in Melbourne and Sydney the Scottish three-piece had been heavily rumoured to return for a more substantial national tour next year. Today those suspicions have been confirmed with Laneway Fest tweeting that the band will “be back soon hint hint”. Given CHVRCHES were also on the top of Laneway promoter Danny Rogers’ hit-list of new bands , we can probably pretty much lock them in to play the festival in 2014.
Psyched for @CHVRCHES' sold out Australian shows this week! Don't worry if you missed out on tickets, they'll be back soon *hint hint

The synth pop group are due to release their debut album The Bones Of What You Believe in Australia on September 20. The highly anticipated record will cap off a huge 12 months for the band, which has seen them place fifth on the influential BBC Sound Poll for 2013, win the inaugural Grulke Prize at South by Southwest (which recognises artists who are breaking new ground) and become the third most blogged about act of the year.
CHRVCHES aren’t the only act heavily rumoured to be playing Laneway. Back in May, British post-punk crew Savages revealed in an interview that the band would be in Australia for a tour come February 2014. “We’re coming over in February next year – I don’t know if our festival has been announced actually, but I’ve been to the festival before, it should be good,” they told The Vine.
CHVRCHES’ sold out Australian tour kicks off in this Friday, August 2, at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.
