Blood Orange has pulled out of Sugar Mountain and cancelled his Australian tour
Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes) has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour.
The singer/producer was scheduled to play Melbourne’s Sugar Mountain Festival next week, as well as a one-off headline show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on January 20. Hynes said a family member’s ill health has led to the cancellation of the tour.
“I was looking forward to visiting Australia this year,” he said in a statement. “Unfortunately due to personal and family matters, and after much consideration, I’ve decided to cancel these shows to spend time with my family. Sending love in the new year.”
Hynes has already been replaced on the Sugar Mountain bill by four acts: The Avalanches, who recently performed at Falls and played acclaimed shows in Melbourne this week; Baltimore rapper Spank Rock, who is part of The Avalanches’ touring lineup; Zimbabwe-born, Wellington-based rapper Young Tapz; and Melbourne duo Habits.
Sugar Mountain 2017 will take place at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne on Saturday, January 21. The line-up includes Big Scary, Weyes Blood, Jessy Lanza, Little Simz, Moses Sumney and Palms Trax.
Tickets to Blood Orange’s headline show at the Enmore Theatre will be refunded through Ticketek. Click here for more information.
