Ben Folds Five: four albums, three members, two sideshows, one piano, no guitars

Ben Folds Five, the trio who proudly describe themselves as “punk rock for sissies”, have reunited after a twelve year hiatus and will be part of the festivities at Harvest in November.

In addition to these east coast festival appearances the band will also be taking their earnest piano ballads to Perth and Ben’s former hometown, Adelaide – where they will play in front of one angry dwarf, 200 solemn faces and an army of thirty-something fans nostalgically embracing the return of the 90s.

The band’s new album The Sound of the Life of the Mind is the first release for Ben Folds, bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee since 1999’s The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner and is due for release on September 18. The album features ten new songs including the title track written by every divorced dad’s favourite author Nick Hornby.
