Apparently AC/DC are trying to get a huge Aussie band to reunite and support them on tour

AC/DC are set to play a run of massive stadium gigs later this year but rumours suggest that those shows could get even bigger with the addition of a huge support act.

According to Triple M, the band has approached Powderfinger, Silverchair and Jet with a “mountain of cash” to reunite for the support act slot. “They believe they’re a real chance of pulling it off,” Triple M’s anonymous “supergrass” reporter says. “That’s why they went so early announcing their second shows.”

None of the three bands mentioned in the rumour have played a live show since 2010. The AC/DC tour dates come almost exactly five years on from Powderfinger’s farewell show in Brisbane which also featured Jet playing a support set in their final live appearance, while the fifth anniversary of Silverchair’s last gig is coming up later this month.

On their most recent Australian tour in 2010 AC/DC were supported by Wolfmother and Calling All Cars.
